MR Credit 2.1 and 2.2
(Construction Waste Management)

The desired outcome is to divert construction, demolition and land-clearing debris from disposal in landfills and incinerators and redirect recyclable recovered materials back to the manufacturing process

  1. Most MATADOR Metal Ceiling panels manufactured require little or no field cutting, which yields a minimal amount of scrap generated at the construction site. Our products are shipped in cardboard boxes. All items are recyclable and reduce the amount of waste in landfill.
  2. The powder coating used is completely recyclable, 100% solvent free and Eco Friendly.

MR Credit 4.1 and 4.2
(Recycle Content)

The desired outcome is to increase demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials, thereby reducing impacts resulting from extraction and processing of virgin materials

  1. MATADOR panels and accessories are manufactured from materials (aluminum, stainless steel and galvanized steel) that contain 24% recycled content.
  2. Cardboard containers use recycled fibers.
  3. Marconi Metal industries incorporates a recycle program to collect and recycle existing metal ceilings during building renovation/refurbishment and provide 5% discount on the new order. This helps in efficient waste management and cost control.

MR Credit 5.1 and 5.2
(Regional Materials)

The desired outcome is to increase demand for building products that are extracted and manufactured within the region, thereby supporting the use of indigenous resources and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from transportation

  1. This credit is applicable for projects that are located within 500 miles of the MATADOR Metal Ceilings manufacturing facility in Dubai, UAE.
  2. Credit available for a minimum of 10% (based on cost) of the total materials value.
  3. Additional credit available for another 10% (total of 20%, based on cost) of the total materials value.
  4. 99% of materials currently supplied to Marconi Metal Industries are within a 500 mile radius.
  5. Credit potential: 2

EQ Credit 3.1 and 3.2
(Construction IAQ Management Plan: During Construction)

The desired outcome is to reduce indoor air quality problems resulting from the construction/renovation process in order to help sustain the comfort and well-being of construction workers and building occupants.

  1. MATADOR Metal Ceiling panels have no reportable VOCs (Volatile Organic Content) in the finished product.
  2. Acoustical fiberglass pads are encapsulated in plastic to prevent scattering of loose fibers.
  3. Most MATADOR Metal Ceiling panels are factory finished and manufactured to size to reduce the amount of field cutting or finishing on-site.
  4. Eliminating these on-site activities helps prevent indoor air quality problems resulting from construction.
  5. Credit potential: 1-2

EQ Credit 4.2
(Low-Emitting Materials: Paints & Coatings)

The desired outcome is to reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and occupants.

  1. MATADOR Metal Ceiling panels have very low or no VOCs and meets international standards for the same.
  2. Credit potential: 1

EA Credit 1
(Optimize Energy Performance)

The desired outcome is to achieve increasing levels of energy performance above the baseline in the prerequisite standard to reduce environmental and economic impacts associated with excessive energy use.

  1. MATADOR Metal Ceiling panels (white finish) have an LR (light reflectance) 0.85 rating (ASTM E 1477) which may contribute to energy savings by achieving maximum natural daylight efficiency.
